Jim Drain

Drain uses patterns and bright colors to create his art. His work can be considered peaceful but also a little confusing. The way in which he creates patterns with such different colors is interestingly simple but yet difficult to create from my own thoughts.

Debra Hurd

I really liked the way in which Hurd uses color to create her paintings. My favorite painting is the piano, specially because the different use of color is so complex but yet so literal. The colors are soft and even thought there are some dark colors, the way she incorporates her colors together make her paintings peaceful.

Lucien Den Arend (HW 4)

I love the simplicity this artist uses within his work. Arend uses mass and line as two of his key elements in his creations. The way in which he uses balancing in different ways and combines it with volume, mass and line is very interesting. Most of his work has a lot of edging that produces line bounding...either with the bounding of surface areas or with another piece of art that will become part of the bigger picture. He also uses planes that create a captivating texture that makes the art work more intriguing.

Isabelle de Borchgrave

I found Borchgrave's work very interesting. Her use of paper to create costumes is not only fascinating but also overly creative. Paper is a material I would probably never think to use to make such a thing as a costume but Borchgrave's work completely changed the use of materials. It is quite amazing to see how something so light and thin can be manipulated into creating such beautiful creations. I simply love it.
